Aero overall colours "compatibility" with Control Panel's left side

Submitted by HinoMusouka on January 11, 2009 to Aesthetics

Ever tried to use a different colour for Aero? And how about using Ruby? I know most guys may not like pink/red/etc. but the left side of some Control Panel windows presenting blue Windows 7 theme (greenish-teal-yellowish in Vista) does not follow changes in Aero. It's just stuck in the DLL making the composition ugly.

Allow the left panel background to be adaptable to Aero colour. Or does anyone have better solution? (Not using red is not a soution;))

True.

Not just the control panel, also the toolbars in explorer.
No matter what colour you choose, they always remain baby blue (yuck).

^ for that, I rather chose my own color, not let microsoft chose what i want. I bought this computer, not them

Maybe a generic picture that can change with the colour tone?

billerr wrote on January 11, 2009, 12:11pm

Yeah, they should change the tone of the picture they have. And a bit the tones of menus and toolbars. Subtler if the color is not intense in Aero, more profound if you've got something as vibrant as Ruby (an eye-sore, in other words) :P

The toolbars and panes are made with the default Aero in mind, and as Microsoft themselves found, 30% of the Vista users use their own colors. Since they cared about it, why not take it a step furter and make bitmaps (pane, toolbars, menus) comply?

They already made the copy/move animation on the fly generated (you can change the color by editing a few color values - not replacing a picture!!! - with resource hacker) why did they use a picture for that? It should also be generated on the fly (or buffered in ram whatever) so that it can change color and does not cause eye cancer ;)

A transparent PNG would be perfect. Under it would be whatever colour you chose for Aero.

+1! It's REALLY makes me want to tear up little teddy bears!!

xombie:
IE8 also have this baby blue color, and Opera can't use my hot pink Aero color scheme with Windows Native scheme selected, it uses this baby blue also!

Hurry! Fix it, Microsoft!

What was gray in XP is blue in 7 (don't know about Vista).

At least gray matched with everything.

Gray in XP? Erm no. If you had the luna skin, it would have been blue.

Vista was green

I mean the colour of some of the controls. Like the menu bar and stuff (not the title bar)

mikmik111 wrote on January 18, 2009, 6:03am

Also the texts, I think the texts should follow the theme colors too.

.Chris wrote on January 18, 2009, 5:58pm

The Text colors should only change if the color is off. (a yellow background with white text is bad)
