<Build 7000> Maximize windows boarders still trasnaparent

Submitted by Good_Bytes on January 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

When you maximize a window, the Superbar (taskbar), and window frame are still transparent. This is VERY distracting, especially if you have animated background or changing picture background.

Make it like in Vista, and make the window boarder lost transparency and put it to black. Same for the superbar (task bar).
OR
Have an option for the user to decide the behavior.

I agree. But many complained. I think they like being distracted.... hmmmm

There should be a simple option, or just say "screw you guys" and add it back.,..

Good_Bytes wrote on January 11, 2009, 8:25am

Yes, option sound good!

Changed solution description.

I don't see how it's any more distracting than the transparent taskbar. I'm surprised no one complained about that, but instead are distracted by this thin little barely noticeable line at the top of the screen. I just find that funny somehow, lol.

I agree with you, I'm just saying that I think the taskbar, being bigger, would be a bigger distraction, yet no one has noted it. xD

+1

I notced that to and was gonna post a topic about it, but I'll leave it foir you... ;)

DeathSeeker wrote on January 11, 2009, 8:51am

Microsoft's already mentioned more people want it transparent than opaque.

.Chris wrote on January 11, 2009, 8:54am

Where? Care to show us a link?

Either way, they SHOULD give us the option. I think around RC or may be it was a post beta 2 bulid of vista, they added the colors to the opaque when maxamized (people complained that it didnt match their window colors) now they complain about not having full glass?

Zerlot wrote on January 11, 2009, 9:09am

I kind of miss it too a option would be nice.

Just change the desktop background picture position to Fit to make the taskbar and title bar black

HinoMusouka wrote on January 11, 2009, 9:48am

Well, MOST people do like when it's transparent and I'm one of them but for the sake of the others (or rather all of us) I'd prefer having choice for this behaviour.

.Chris wrote on January 11, 2009, 9:56am

So 30% of people want transparent and 60% dont want it?

am I missing the picture here?

DeathSeeker wrote on January 11, 2009, 11:07am

The 30% is the amount of people who changed the default glass color to something else.

Dubya wrote on January 11, 2009, 11:23am

Microsoft is definitely not going to undo all the hard work they've put into their transparency bits. If it's so distracting having transparent borders, then use the non-transparent option. -1.

I love the transparent taskbar and window title bars when maximized.

There should be an option to bring back the old behavior, though, I see a lot of people liked the blackness in Vista (I didn't).

hoopla_punta wrote on January 11, 2009, 11:36am

Not, black, but less transparent.

WindowsFan wrote on January 11, 2009, 12:10pm

I like it transparent.

I agree there should be an option to disable it for those who think it's a distraction, though.

billerr wrote on January 11, 2009, 1:02pm

But htere is an option, as Dubya said. Just disable transparency of Windows. Or does the disturbance in transparency kick in only when having maximized Windows? Well, one has to compromise. Either lose the transparency, or have it always. It's just logical.

Good_Bytes wrote on January 11, 2009, 5:00pm

I am suggestion to have an option to choose, and people are not happy and vote it down!?!?!

@billerr, I am suggestion a check box where it says and does "Remove transparency on maximized windows".

Also what people fail to see, is that transparency require mode system power, meaning reducing of free resource for the application and lower battery life on a laptop.

Good_Bytes wrote on January 11, 2009, 5:56pm

Think of this people....
having the boarder transparent on a maximize window... is it useful in any way? is it even remotely nice? No! and distracting!

If you can show how I am wrong, please do. Else, change your vote to up.

WindowsFan wrote on January 11, 2009, 6:38pm

"is it useful in any way? is it even remotely nice? No! and distracting!"

That's your opinion. I like the transparency - that's my opinion. I agree there should be an option, but you can't force everyone to think the same way as you.

Good_Bytes wrote on January 11, 2009, 6:51pm

That is what I suggest on my post... do people read?!
Grrrr I give up.

.Chris wrote on January 11, 2009, 7:05pm

People just post their thoughts and dont come back to respod to yours Pisses people off..

Good_Bytes wrote on January 11, 2009, 9:49pm

I agree with you Chris.

tino wrote on January 13, 2009, 12:33am

I would vote for the golden way: Make the title bar and taskbar a little less transparent and a little darker when in full screen with a nice fade effect.

.Chris wrote on January 13, 2009, 12:35am

I do miss the vista way. Theres just to much glass in 7.

TheDub wrote on January 15, 2009, 6:53am

I posted something similar

http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/580

I agree 100%!!!!!!!! When I am working with something maximized I do NOT want to see whats behind it, not to mention it makes things in the title bar hard to read sometimes. Vista did this BEAUTIFULLY!!! Even people who hate Vista loved the way it looked, it had its flaws but in general the mix of glass and non glass was perfect.

When I have my browser full screen I do not want to see whats behind it, at all, period.

Soulburner wrote on January 15, 2009, 1:20pm

Well then, let's use the Send feedback link and write about an option to make maximized windows non-transparent. As I wrote before - I like it the way it is right now, but many people like the Vista way - Microsoft should listen to them.

TheDub wrote on January 15, 2009, 11:04pm

Microsoft should listen to both of us and have it be a option or perhaps a whole different theme. Neither of us are right or wrong here :P
