<build 7000> Uncustomisable Quick Access Toolbar in Paint and Wordpad (and orange-dotted icons)

Submitted by billerr on January 9, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Icons

1. The Quick Access Toolbar in Paint and Wordpad (the one residing in the title bar, has no options to reorder the icons in it. It just places them in the order in which you activate them.

For example if you have "Save", "Undo" and "Redo" on this toolbar, if you add "New", it gets situated as the fourth icon in the row. If you want "New" to appear first, you have to disable them all, and enable them in the order you want them, i.e. "New", "Save", "Undo" and "Redo". Cumbersome.

In the screenshot posted, I disabled all icons and re-enabled them from bottom to top as they appear in th dropdown menu of the Toolbar. This created a totally non-intuitive order for the icons.

2. The icons for the actions in this toolbar are still plagued by the orange dot in their lower right corner. Should get fixed sometime soon eh?

1. Add an option for custom-ordering the icons in the dropdown menu of the Quick Access Toolbar, as is the case with the Office 2007 programs. Anyway, replicating the Office Ribbon functionality (than just the looks) would offer more consistency.

Or even enable them in the order in which they appear in the dropdown menu, which is the most logical.

2. Fix the icons.

A simple, but important detail.

The dots are placement holders. These icons should and hopefully get changed
