Aero Snap should not be enabled & disabled with "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing"
Windows 7 Build 6956
Half-screen & Fullscreen Snap
Disabling the animation while minimizing and maximizing windows, the "half-screen and fullscreen snap" feature stops working.
One might argue that most average users don't do this, but whoever disable this setting may never realize that half-screen snap even existed. I tried to demonstrate the feature to a friend of mine, and it didn't work. It took me about 5 minutes to realize I had disabled some visual settings like in Vista.
I like the windows to pop-up instantly rather than going through the fancy animations. The problem here is that we're disabling the "animate" part of the "minimizing and maximizing" feature. We're not disabling the min and max features themselves. So having Half-Screen Snap disabled makes no sense, since this is disabling a useful feature rather than disabling the "animating process" of the feature.
In fact, I don't see how Aero Snap relates to the animate part of the min and max features. This grouping is simply wrong, and needs to be addressed.
Cliff:
Disabling "animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" also disable "half-screen snap".
Make a separate option for "Aero Snap" somewhere more logical (maybe in Personalization).

Brandon Live thinks this is a known bug: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic...ndpost&p=590319206
I think the bug he refers to is the green animation in the volume control also gets disabled when "animate controls and elements inside window" is disabled.
I don't understand why the 'animation of (windows)' is so nasty, that one would want to disable just that one item? Is it lost productivity?
