The Network, Volume and Action Center icons look like rubbish when they're hidden (see image)

Submitted by eikonoklastes2 on December 28, 2008 to Aesthetics

When you choose to hide these icons into the tray popup, they look completely different. I'm not sure if it's the white background or if it's some sort of alpha-blending issue, but they just look really bad.

Make the look of the icons consistent even when they're hidden.

The icons are white when they are in the notification area. This is indeed a problem when there are shown in this customizable area because the background there is white, too. So the icons have to get another color in that area or they have to get some outlines in another color than white. MS choosed the second alternative.

I just want to say that this is by design and not a bug. Probably a bad design, but that's up to you. I don't give a fuck how this is made but I think the just should make the icons black when they are shown in this customize area. I don't know.

+ 1? Jepp!

Actually, in the taskbar these icons have a black border around them. I have no idea why it shows differently when they're hidden.

Hmm, you're right. Seems to be that I'm to busy with setting up Build 7000 so that I oversight that detail.

those icon look better now than in build 6956. In 6956 you can't even see those icons at all.

I like the white icons. They are simple and not distracting but the hidden window should use glass intsead of the white background.
That way they would look identical to when they are visible on the taskbar
