Volume slider/icon in WMP ?

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

I can't find a volume slider or option in the small WMP taskbar preview! it would be greatly useful, or at least a mousewheel option for controlling the volume :)

Add a volume button/slider! :D

Yeah, at this point I'm not sure the WMP taskbar preview is an adequate replacement for the old deskband. Hopefully it will be polished up a bit more before RTM.

yeah, the functionality of the deskband should indeed be implemented in the thumbnail. RW/play/pause/FF, volume, and seeking. perhaps the seeking could be ommitted because of the live-updating of the seek position, that could be hard in implementation.

I'm not that interested in a volume slider on the preview. What I really want is a way to make the preview "always on top", so I can keep an eye on a video while working in other windows.

That would be a great suggestion too.

+1 they definitely need to bring back the volume slider, also a slider for the song position would be a plus to. Why did they remove both of these features? Maybe its just a temporary thing.

+ 1

I was also using the deskband in vista days (yes I havent used vista for a couple of weeks now) and I'm missing not only the ability to change the volume, but would like to see a progress bar and also the ability to really see what's actually playing. For me that would be more useful than the live thumnbnail of the window.

But I have to admit that the volume can also adjusted via the sound mixer in the notification area.
