Include "Virtual Folders" in Explorer
Suggestion, something similar to libraries.
Virtual Folders = Really Simple Shorcutting = Your own library for your own usage
In Vista you get this thing called Search Folders, where it will give you items based on your search. Take out the search bit and you get Virtual Folders.
Virtual Folders lets you put in Apps, Folders and Files, which actually links to them, so you would not have to go here and there to get them. (just like a library, but more user created.)
This is useful for like projects, or putting your favourite apps into one folder, as you can save space by not copying duplicates.

Well a library for your own personal usage then, not just for documents or pictures.
Changed problem description.
I thought I read somewhere that you can already create custom libraries in 7
Applications should also be able to create libraries from a default save location you specify, I am thinking of apps like Visual Studio, Expression Web, etc, all which just dump their folders in the USER>DOCUMENTS folder with no way to change it in the app. If it links to a library, then you can change the default folder from the Windows 7 dialog, and the app will be aware. A way for this to work retroactively in vista would be good for app developers.
Yea for (very probably) example you could create "Download" Library with all .exe files from specific locations ;)
Yeah, I think Libraries covers this.
I'm still curious why WinFS has never been implemented, because it was supposed to enable features like this with complete transparency for the user. Libraries works, but WinFS would (in theory) provide stronger performance for this feature.
you Can make custom libraries =)
and i think i read something about saved searches? am expecting it works somewhat like the firefox smart bookmarks feature..and name-wise possibly this vista feature of yours? =))
