I do have give me solutions Width that error reporting program. And i'm sure that they logging all received errors and solve it when they get the same error again and again from diffrent persons.
I had 3 solutions show up for old software which didn't run correctly in the past week alone. That's not representative of the average per week at all, but it did help me to find the solutions to the compatibility problems much more quickly than I would have been able to on my own.

You know you can disable this, right? However, like the other commenters, I have always found it helpful.

Have you ever followed the messages through to the Microsoft site, that explain you won't get an individual response (because they're anonymized for starters)?
It's by collecting mass reports that Microsoft identifies problems with code or drivers.
