Yup, using latest version - and the funny thing is that I've used it on two different machines, both with the same issue - so I know it's not something local.
Any ideas on how to further debug this?
I have boot running here and use the magnifier here and then. No problem at all with it.
Ambious, could you post a short video of this happening?
And do you have any other screen utilities or "Ease of Access" utilities running?
No other options on.
I'm trying to think of other similarities between my two machines and can't think of any. One is a laptop and the other a desktop.
I will post a video shortly, just have to install Camtasia again.

Here's a short video, thanks for helping:

I have tried everything to reproduce this, to no avail.
I wish I could help, all I can say is try extracting the magnify.exe file from your installation disk and replace the existing copy.
Also, hunt down the registry settings for the magnifier and, after backing them up, delete them and see if it'll replace them, and prehaps fix what's wrong if it does.
If it won't start, simply restore them from the backup and at least you're back where you started so you can keep searching for the solution.
You may want to send this one to Microsoft for help, as this isn't a help forum.
On 4 real machines and 5 virtual machines, I can't get any of them to do what yours is doing.
I have to admit, this negates all logic, and the fact that it happens on two different machines makes me think it must be some 3rd piece of software I'm using other than Intellipoint. Next thing I'm going to do is a clean install, then intellipoint, and then one by one install my usual programs and try magnifier. It may take ages, and maybe never help anyone, but at least it'll stop me going mad and blind.
Try it in a virtual machine first, before you hose your current system.
Yeah, planned as much.
I WAS planning to re-install my laptop anyway though, so I might give it a go along the way.
Just tried a virtual machine, and turns out you can not install intellipoint on a VM, so I can't reproduce it on a VM after all.... I'll have to do the entire thing on my laptop.
By the way, if I kill the "ipoint.exe" and "itype.exe" applications (the intellipoint and intellitype), the problem goes away too, so it has to do with those two somehow.

Ok, so I did a clean install of Windows on my Laptop, and after doing nothing but Windows Updates, I installed IntelliPoint - and the problem still exists!!!
Again, this is with NO 3rd PARTY SOFTWARE!
Could my Magnifier.exe be corrupt? Can anyone send me theirs (x64)?

Update:
Just claen installed using a DIFFERENT installation DVD, and still - the same issue persists. After installing only IntelliPoint, Magnify will quit on 'click'.
Ambious you're magnifier isn't corrupt.
I had the same problem, exactly, and then unistalled IntelliType, the magnifier works again.
Personnaly I don't need IntelliType, so I can live without it.
Cheers,
Ryan.
I don't understand why it's working for micjustmic.
Maybe he has a 64bit PC ? Or a different version of IntelliType.
Cheers,
Ryan.
But, can you please post your PC configuration here, to see if it can be a conflict beetween something you have and intellitype. For e.g. the Nvidia software ...
You can use the free software "Speccy", to do this.

I have this issue on two separate computers. One is:
(Custom Build)
Intel Core2Duo E8500 3.18 Ghz
Asus P5E Motherboard (Intel X38 Chipset)
2 x 2048MB Kingston HyperX DDRII @ 800Mhz
Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GT 512Mb
Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit
The other is:
(Laptop)
Dell XPS M1330
Core2Duo T8300 2.4Ghz
2 x 2 Kingston DDRII @ 800Ghz
Both have the same issue, only when IntelliType OR IntelliPoint are running (if I kill the tasks, it doesn't happen).
Is the graphic card on the labtop also a Geforce ? Cheers.
Personnaly I think it's just IntelliType the problem, maybe they have another versions than ours. Or the version of Windows 7 they have is different, I don't know ...
For me the problem is IntelliType.
Nope, it's an Intel integrated GPU.
I also think it's just a software bug.
I've tried on several different versions of Windows, several different SKUs, several different hardwares - all on clean installations, always with latest versions from MS website. Always the same issue. It's easily reproducable.

Yep, maybe they don't have the latest version from the website.

An update to anyone still following this thread:
The new version of Intellipoint/Intellitype (8.0) solves this issue permanently :-)
Just download it from the MS website, or Windows Update.
Cheers, and thanks to MS for following up on this bug :-)
Changed status from [Not fixed] to [Fixed]
Update. I have this exact issue with the latest version of intellitype (8.2). This is really annoying as I use magnifier a lot and use the play/stop etc. buttons on my keyboard so I need the driver. I am a software developer and have spend hours trying to get magnifier to work but was unsuccessful. I was unable to find another decent magnifier out there so I wrote my own magnifier software to get past this issue.
Marked as removed.

Do you have the latest versions of Intellipoint and Intellitype installed?
Both running on my system and I'm using the magnifier right now (just to test) and I'm having no problems with it at all.
It's right there on screen, doesn't quit and is fully functional and I've been clicking away for the past 15 minutes with it running.
Edit to clarify that I am running IT &IP
