Hover effect NOT disappearing

Submitted by DBS on February 24, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

Recently, when hovering on top of an open or closed program in the taskbar, i see the hovering, but when the mouse moves away form the icon, AND the taskbar, the hover effect stays there as if the mouse was still on top of the icon.

I would like this to get fixed, i don't know if it does have something to do with the .dll's??..maybe i screwd up some of them by installing not-totally compatible software for windows 7.

I come across this issue many times and Its incredibly annoying, since it can also prevent the multiple thumbnail feature from displaying. The only way of getting rid of this is ending explorer.exe and restarting it again. however it always comes crawling back.

Countless numbers of people have reported this bug to Microsoft, and still nothing has been done. Maybe we should wait for SP1?

Oh yeah you're right, it does prevent the thumbnail form appearing too!...This is so annoying.

And now i remember something else that happened: instead of the image of the window content appearing in the thumbnail, i had the name of the windows on it instead!!!..too bad i didn't do a screenshot of that

Confirmed. It happened to me with RTM a few times, but it was okay for a few months. It reoccurred recently, but after hovering over a few pinned items, it returned to normal.
