Windows XP Mode Setup uses Wizard 97

Submitted by nyp on January 30, 2010 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

The new Windows XP Mode setup still uses the old Wizard 97 and not the new Aero Wizard.
Also, on the browse location dialog, there are some old icons.

Revamp the setup dialog.

BTW, if anyone wants screenshots of the new Virtual PC, here is the place:

The XP mode configuration is an Aero wizard but the VPC setup is not. My god that Windows installer sucks. Create a package managment like Linux has. +1

@Ensign Joe

Remember, Windows Installer > InstallShield (though current versions do use Windows Installer) > Inno Setup/NSIS > Wise Installer :D

Hmm why do i have another wizard? How do you create the VM? Also in the Explorer?

@bluefisch200

Windows XP Mode just uses Windows Virtual PC for the /real/ virtualization and is more like a *free* copy of Windows XP SP3.

I haven't personally test this yet but I *think* you CAN run Virtual PC in Home, but not XP Mode.
Virtual PC 2007 also has a "theoretical" limit that states you can't run it in Home Premium, but you can continue to do so anyway but Microsoft will not help you if your computer suddenly becomes a giant cheese cake.

Oh wait, I mixed up Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode in this submission. Let me edit this...

Changed title from [Virtual PC Setup uses Wizard 97] to [Windows XP Mode Setup uses Wizard 97].
Changed problem description.
