Where did the "energy ribbon" go?
If you have ever noticed in Vista's Explorer, whenever you open a new Explorer Window, there is this thing that animates in the bottom right of the details pane. That is what I call the energy ribbon, and it is GONE! Why??? It is a symbol of aero-ness!
I feel that it is very unique to aero and it should still be in the Explorer! It is so empty without the enegry ribbon!
Other places that the energy ribbon shows up: The default (vista) wallpaper, the windows energy and windows logo wallpaper.
Bring back the energy ribbon to the Details Pane or include it some (more) places:
Copy/Cut... Dialog,
Watermark background for Windows Explorer
Generic Icons???

Its also in remote desktop. (yes, they updated it in windows 7)
I liked it, nice visual, but never got the reason behind it
its a symbol of aero!!!
Changed problem description.
I never liked it nor understood it's purpose/story
I hated this symbol all the time. I miss the older Vista builds where there was the final Aero look but without this shitty animation. I always hated it. Especially on the logon screen where it does fit nowhere on the background picture. It looks so "paint-added"
I hated the energy symbol, clunky and stupid looking. I'm not against the idea of having an animation there though, but it should be a bit more subtle (some kind of a blurry moving ribbon perhaps, or related to the azure 'underwater light beam' type effect, or in the same vein as the silverlight logo).
It is funny that there are really people who miss that marketing thing of useless and ugly crap.
What I like so far about the work that the Win7 team is doing: they concentrate on useful and meaningful things.
They are doing the same things as they did in the past. I have to say most of the ideas on here are "usefull" and meaningfull" if you just take the time to really think of them.
as for that image reason why I miss it is because the detels pane looks a bland now. and a bland UI doesnt catch the peoples eye and makes everything UGLY
@.Chris: Just make use of the new blank space by make the details pane a little bit smaller.
You still can resize the detils pane manualy by draging it ot by right clicking it and choosing the size you wont
Exactly. So why complaining about blank space?
well, its still bla. needs some sort of design to it. microsoft keep going at these faded UI's its BS

It's cool, but I don't miss it. It needed a story or some explanation :P
