Due to the stupidity of Long (that's me), all comments on the Windows 7 Taskforce after March has been lost.
As a result of this unfortunate event, a transition to a new backend (the one powering heresanidea.net) is being considered.

WMP - "Recently added" section of library is gone in Windows 7

Submitted by MikeW on June 26, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

I buy albums (CDs or downloaded) rather fitfully - but quite often I'll get a whole lot at one time from a trip to my CD store, or from an Amazon delivery. I'm quite disciplined about getting them onto my computer, but I may not listen to all of them at once.

As a result it's very useful to have the Recently Added node in Media Player library so that I can quickly jump to these albums/tracks.

In Windows 7, this feature is gone, without explanation.

A rather awful work-around is to build an Auto Playlist based on library addition date or encoding date, but this is a) really hard for most users, b) doesn't work very well* and c) user playlists do not generate an album tile view like "native" library playlists.

*reports from the beta newsgroup confirm that Media Player doesn't even properly find the correct albums using these date parameters.

Revive the feature.
