Multiple desktops
THERE IS ALOT TO READ sorry
There are many suggestions about tabbed interfaces, in my mind windows itself is a tabbed interface, just move the taskbar to the top and maximize all windows to make it look like the tabs in a browser
i think adding a multiple desktop feature will allow users to organize their windows or applications into different spaces as well as keeping the old interface
being able to organize windows into separate spaces will be like tabs on explorer but on the desktop itself and not on the window
the task bar should either show all windows open in all desktops or only show the windows in its own desktop or some other way to show all windows but in a way to tell the user the window in on another desktop like two task bars or separation or color coding
windows flip and flip 3d should also do the same, either show all windows or only the windows on the current desktop or provide a way to do both
each desktop should be able to have an individual wallpaper, this will help users define desktops from each other. in smarter words: to take advantage of human spatial memory
a visual over view of all the desktops should also be with this idea so you can see everything, the taskbar should also be shown when the overview is applied. the visual overview doesn't just have to be simple tiles laid out - it can be a cube or something like flip 3D, whatever look to make this look great (the idea of the cube did come from Linux-Ubuntu)
this should allow users to have as many windows open and be able to have a clean work space
(OSX Leopard does have this feature and there was an XP 'Power Toy' which included a multiple desktop feature)

Here is a novel suggestion for how to implement this on Windows:

This is like spaces on the macintosh.

Why would anyone downvote this? EVERY OTHER OS HAS THIS, and its great. I'd rather be using Ubuntu for their great integration of this feature, if only I could get all my programs to run on it.
