Due to the stupidity of Long (that's me), all comments on the Windows 7 Taskforce after March has been lost.
As a result of this unfortunate event, a transition to a new backend (the one powering heresanidea.net) is being considered.

Another alternative to the preview pane (this is mainly for photos)

Submitted by blueduck12 on April 21, 2009 to Legacy, Usability

Please also look at my other submission: http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/2052

The preview pane can be a waste of space when it is not used, and im soo lazy that i don't wana have to click it open

create a preview call-out/balloon showing an enlarged version of the image when the mouse hovers over the icon of the image. The user should be able to change the size of the expanded image.
This is a similar feature in Windows Photo Gallery (Vista)

The mock is only my illustration, please think of the idea more

Edit: i found a similar submission: http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/35
