Due to the stupidity of Long (that's me), all comments on the Windows 7 Taskforce after March has been lost.
As a result of this unfortunate event, a transition to a new backend (the one powering heresanidea.net) is being considered.

add new shortcuts to the breadcrumb bar

Submitted by talkersoft on April 19, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

I want to vent my big frustration with Visa to you, this also seems to be an issue with windows 7 too. I often work with a bunch of windows and command prompts open to perform daily tasks, I get frustrated with the differences in comparison to xp on the shortcuts available to work with multiple windows and command prompts. Yes, I know the ones available even the hidden open cmd prompt feature and keyboard shortcuts.

So my suggestion is additional options added to the right click context menu of the Vista breadcrumb bar, there should be options for open new window here, and open command prompt here. This way it would be easy to execute "explorer ..\..\.." commands from a window. This would allow us to open up new windows or command prompt instances quickly from an explorer window.

It would provide benefits to the entire IT industry in general. While the explorer tree view serves it's purpose it's cluttered with too many folders to open new windows quickly where you want them, and the shift option to expose the command prompt does not work on the explorer tree view, " i don't know if this is a bug or a feature".

To be consistent with the folder context menu it would be smart to stick with the shift key to expose hidden menu options. I think it would be a great idea for a tweakUI enhancement.

What do you think about my suggestion?
