Side By Side Resize Both Windows

Submitted by waxxi on April 7, 2009 to Usability

When viewing two windows side by side, resizing one window does not effect other window.

There should be an option to resize both window at the same time. So if i resize one window to 3/2 of the screen, other window will take 3/1.

Suggestion for implementation with more advanced functionality:

1. Implement kde/gnome-style magnetic window snapping ( http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/2785 ) first.

2. Right-clicking on the snapped window boundary gives you a "Group windows" option (and a corresponding "Ungroup windows" option.

A grouped window will not only allow proportional resizing (as mentioned in http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/1843 ), but the magnetic snapping would mean that it would also apply to non-Aero-snapped window. Moving one of the grouped windows would move the others grouped to it, and switching to one of the grouped windows would also show all the windows in the group (as in http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/3761 )
