Due to the stupidity of Long (that's me), all comments on the Windows 7 Taskforce after March has been lost.
As a result of this unfortunate event, a transition to a new backend (the one powering heresanidea.net) is being considered.

UAC settings per app, or allow to "Trust" an application, or "remember last setting per app"

Submitted by DamianK on April 1, 2009 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

I have certain legacy apps that don't have publisher certs and every time the application starts the UAC asks me if I "want to allow this application to make changes to the computer" ...

gets annoying after a while.

P.S. I would appreciate if people who demote this idea posted a reason why they did so.

Either:

1) Add a checkmark to the dialog box to remember the last answer
or
2) allow to specify which applications to trust (yeah, I know that's what the certs are for) but these are legacy apps. Can't we "create" a cert manually for these ?
