Scenic Ribbon Menu Style is non-standard

Submitted by Cuppa on November 8, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

The context menu style used in Scenic Ribbon applications (Paint/Wordpad/etc.) is non-standard. It is one thing for Office to use its own style, but these applications are bundled with Windows - consistency is required.

Use the standard menu styling.

Better solution: since the Scenic/Ribbon menu/buttons looks much cooler, it should be the NEW DEFAULT menu/button appearance. Vista menus are very unappealing.

It's just another of those "consistency!!!" things.

demoted, just because this looks a LOT nicer then the vista one. I do agree with Joete, the new one should be defalut.

I personally prefer the Vista style (Office/Scenic style is too gaudy), but there should at least be consistency.

I really hope they have an agenda to finally unify the UI. Between the control panel and the new UI elements they're throwing in, it's going to be another mess.

The Scenic/Ribbon interface absolutely must use the theme API to do its menus.

By the way, if you notice, Vista menus fade IN, while Scenic menus fade OUT.
