Due to the stupidity of Long (that's me), all comments on the Windows 7 Taskforce after March has been lost.
As a result of this unfortunate event, a transition to a new backend (the one powering heresanidea.net) is being considered.

Taskbar on multiple monitors...

Submitted by TheEconomist79 on February 13, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

I am on WIN7 beta, running dual monitors (extended display setting).

Yesterday I "by accident" enabled my taskbar to run on both monitors. I wasn't even aware that Win7 finally allowed multiple taskbars (one on each monitor covering the open programs located on that distinct monitor). I was VERY excited! Ultramon doesn't work, so I couldn't believe they had done this.

Unfortunately today I can't get it to work (don't even know how it happened). It certainly isn't an option on the taskbar and startup properties, nor display...

SHOW ME HOW TO ENABLE THIS AGAIN! ANYONE! PLEASE!

Changed problem description.

As far as I know the only way to get the taskbar on multiple screens is to clone the display, but that's pretty worthless.

You lucky son'bitch. Unfortunately, this seems like a fluke. Probably won't happen again. But, maybe this proves that the functionality to do this is already in Windows 7, but they just need to create a control panel for the options. :o

So...you don't remember that the "accident" was? :P

That's great! Now if we can just remember/figure out how it's done.
