Tightly tie Media Player Photo Library with Live Photo Gallery and Explorer photo library.
With Libraries introduced into Win7, I hope Microsoft will address this issue.
In WMP 11, the photo and video library was introduced. This overlapped with Windows Explorer and Photo Gallery (which is now "Live"), causing much disorganization.
To solve this problem, the Library should reflect all changes in WMP, WLPG and Explorer. That means all 3 platforms should have similar basic features like tagging and ratings. Editing changes made in WLPG will be shown in the others. (and I don't really know what WMP can do, hopefully slideshows)
I've made some sort of solution in Aqua Taskforce, but is not very pratical: http://www.aerotaskforce.com/view/1143

All 3 edit the file metadata - so no integration is required. I don't understand the problem here. WMP needs the photo gallery so it can sync stuff with MTP players. For this reason, its library has to be customisable. Apart from this, everything is integrated.
Yeah but why do we need 3 ways to organise images? Two should be enough!
@grinser: WLPG edits images, WMP has more music organisation, licensing, stores, sync, etc. functions, Explorer is for all files.
WLPG, WMP & Explorer all play videos & display photos. That is the only major redundancy.
But, WLPG is a live suite app. It updates on a different schedule, does not need to be as reliable as WMP or Explorer & may be called optional.
I would, personally, just keep WMP-lite in Windows, and then have a "WL Music" component in Live Suite that adds the current "full" WMP interface to Windows (using the "lite" framework for actual playback)
Metadata added in any of these apps is still present in the file. Each app just displays the metadata relevant to it's function: e.g. WLPG shows EXIF data, WMP shows genre, artist etc. tags, and Explorer shows "keyword" tags
Whatever it is, since they share the same library, they should share the same content.
Libraries do work to solve this /but/ you run into issues when you tag an item that is not taggable (AVI, for example). WLPG will save the tag internally but the file itself is unaware that it has been labeled. The best solution is to solely use formats that can be tagged, if you can help it (WMV, for example). +/- 0.
I still think a basic photo viewer is needed. Doesnt need the edit tools, just a basic strip down photo viewer. This topic can resolve that issue.

Please take a look at this:

You guys can leave the extra stuff for other programs. Keep photo viewer for viewing photos. Thanks
When Windows 7 ships, the "Library" of Documents, Photos, etc will be used as the common foundation and it will be used by all 3: Explorer, and WMP, Media Center. And WLPG will be migrated over to use the same library schema. Just FYI.
Well right now WLPG does not use Libraries, and Explorer/Libraries actually does a better job when you start stacking and arranging by tags, etc
WMP uses the Libraries only in that it keeps track of the same files, but when I edit my music in WMP the Explorer file remains untouched
