Windows update tries to install updates that are already there

I was trying to install office 2007 sp1 and it kept failing. i looked at installed updates and noticed that sp1 was already installed. it was not letting update install it again

the same thing happened with a driver.

Technical bug with the update service.
Happens in XP too.

Sounds like a bug, report it. Don't forget to include your windowsupdate.log.
