Better use of space and style in Start Menu
The search field at the bottom of the task bar is surrounded by a very thick, and useless, blue border. I know its only an aesthetic qualm but I find it annoying and ugly.
Resize the blue border or remove it completely, I've made a mock-up to show how it could look.

I do like it and the bigger spaces between the icons are for touch-support. -1
I like the second one, but not the 3rd...
+1 anyway.. (for the sake of the 2ed mock "improved" )
I don't like it. You give up alignment and aesthetic for what? Space? Not much to gain with this change.
If people agree to this, then submissions about "thick borders" or "misaligned start button" lose their value. We mind some lost pixels here, but not there? Seriously.
I like it the 2nd one also. If this happened, it might also be good if the shut down button was also brought down to be aligned with the search box or the bottom of the start menu.
Sorry, no. That "wasted space" helps to emphasize the search box and visually reinforces its importance in the Start menu.
The start menu has more or less become the main search place.
+1 not for the deletion of space, as is apparent in your mockup, but for the title, which suggests better use of space. The search box is misaligned...
+1 i dont mind how it is now but i guess it would improve things if the space was better used
Exctly. Open minded people here
-1, not good idea
