Windows Live Photo Gallery - Auto Save
Basically, when you view a photo in WLPG and click the Fix button at the top, you may adjust the photo with a bunch of tools. As soon as you click "Back to Gallery" button, it will automatically save the original copy to a system folder without prompting user whether they want to save changes.
Of course, user can go back to the same photo and select "File - Revert to original" to restore the original copy. I am not sure if i am the only one here, but i would rather have an option in WLPG to disable auto save and instead get a popup message asking if I want to save changes instead.
This auto-save has been there for long time. And it is this auto-save feature that make me feel hesistant using the "Fix" feature. Right now, i just use the Microsoft Office Picture Manager to do the simple touch up instead of using WLPG because of this.
Just add an advanced option inside the program so that user can disable this auto-save feature.

Why not just undo the changes in the first place before going back to the gallery?

yeah, you can just click undo. whats so hard about that? You made the changes, so that means you are most likely set on the changes. Other wise you'd still be working on those changes BEFORE you exit .
pop ups are outdated. everyone hates them

Well, I think that since the change is reversible (even before it is autosaved - just click Undo>Revert) there is no need for popup confirmation windows. It just breaks the flow of moving within the application. I find it really innovative that you do whatever you do on a photo, and then just proceed to another photo or the gallery and WLPG takes care of the saving and stuff. It's almost clever.
rofl well if you're using that Gallery shit in XP you can't even modify the pictures because EVERY TIME you try to save your changes (except for rotating which works though) it spits out an error message
@Ensign Joe:
Must be a problem with your installation, I've used it a lot.
I completely agree with submission.
This is the one feature that keeps me from using Windows Live Photo Gallery. The reason this is a problem is because I share my picture store with my Wife. I like to keep the originals and she likes to make modifications.
However if she makes a modification then the original gets stored in her profile on her computer. If her computer dies the I loose that original and perhaps all I'll have left is a cropped and touched up picture.
Now if Photo Gallery saved the original in a folder called "Originals" that was located in the photos directory then I'd have both the original and the modified... both could be accessed from any computer.
