Library folders don't show same right click menu as an actual folder does

Submitted by pyrates on December 28, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

The library folders don't show same right click menu as an actual folder does. If you are in any library folder or any folder within that library, it shows a different menu when you right click. Anything that you could do in a regular folder you (more...)

Show the same menu when you right click whether you are in a regular folder or within a library. The library folder should only have the additional option of adding another location to it or removing a location that was added to it.

show resolution setting on each monitor

Submitted by pyrates on December 28, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

When setting the resolution of a monitor, put the configuration on each monitor so it can be adjusted on that monitor. This way there doesn't need to be drop down boxes to select which monitor you're changing.

Show what monitor you're gonna change by putting the window with the resolution configuration on that monitor. And when you add 2 or more, it defaults to desktop extended mode. So on 2 monitors, you see one resolution configuration on one with (more...)

Show gadgets on top of the desktop

Submitted by pyrates on December 28, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

Mac OS X had the idea right. Show gadgets by pressing the f12 key on top of whatever is on the desktop. But windows could also add a right click and show gadgets option as well. The current way it does it isn't very usable if you got a full desktop. (more...)

Only show gadgets if you right click on desktop and click on show gadgets or you simply press f12.

gadgets appear to be nearly invisible sometimes

Submitted by pyrates on December 28, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

I noticed on some instances when I login, that a gadget is nearly invisiable and there's no way for me to get it to be shown properly without rebooting or trying to logout. Image attached to show what I mean.

Rebooting or logging out seems to fix it until it shows up again.

Remove the ability to hide file extensions

Submitted by pyrates on September 27, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Even in Windows 7 by default, it hides file extensions. This should be removed all together. It was originally put in to be like Apple's OS with OS 9 and before that, but now in OS X Apple does use file extensions. And they do not hide them.

2 Solutions:

1. Show file extensions by default but keep the option to hide them for those who want to hide them.
2. Show file extensions always and remove the option to hide them.

Submitted by pyrates on September 8, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

In Windows explorer, the option "show all folders" is designed to hide empty drives if not ticked. However it also hides the recycle bin and I'm forced to minimize all windows to empty the recycle bin on the desktop. Please make it so (more...)

Right click and click on show all folders, it will show up then but then I see empty drive letters, which is why I wanted it not ticked in the first place.

2nd Solution. Right click and click on show all folders. Click on the recycle (more...)

Submitted by pyrates on September 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

Back in windows vista and windows xp, I was able to install coreavc and have it be my default h.264 decoder. But in windows 7 this is over-ridden to use microsoft's h.264 decoder, which cannot play back 1080p video properly, but coreavc plays them (more...)

Windows Explorer arrows autohide and don't come back unless I click on them several times

Submitted by pyrates on August 9, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

In windows explorer , I noticed that after a while the arrows beside each folder will autohide itself. To get it back, I not only have to click on the folder, but I have to double click on a folder that is in that folder to finally get them back. I (more...)

1. To bring them back, I should only hover over the area where they were and then they should show up.

2. Give me the option to disable the auto hiding of the arrows in windows explorer as it is just annoying (more...)

Detect and select windows version that user is referring to

Submitted by pyrates on August 1, 2009 to Website suggestions

When submitting a suggestion, the user should be able to select the windows version they are submitting it about. It can by default try to detect which windows version they are using so they don't have to do this every time. It would make it real (more...)

Add windows version as a drop down list for user to select from but also detect which version and select that one automatically.

Include option that is for all versions of windows as well in case it applies to more then one version of windows.

Opening up a video or audio file in winodws media player never shows the play list

Submitted by pyrates on August 1, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

When opening up a video or audio file, I could previously set the play list to be shown permanently. Now what happens is that it only shows up if I right click and choose the option show list. But upon closing it, it doesn't show up the next time (more...)

Include it as an option that once I enable it, it stays enabled.

Please do not allow "show all folders" to over-ride the option "hide empty drives in the computer folder". I was really looking forward to using this feature, now I can't use it.

Gadgets can be put on top of each other

Submitted by pyrates on July 26, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Back in Windows Vista, the gadgets would arrange themselves so that if I attempted to put one on top of another it would be moved out of the way automatically. But in Windows 7, that no longer happens. I'm able to put gadgets on top of other gadgets (more...)

Prevent Gadgets from being able to be put on top of one another and use the animation that Windows Vista used when the user attempted to put a gadget on top of another gadget.
