Due to the stupidity of Long (that's me), all comments on the Windows 7 Taskforce after March has been lost.
As a result of this unfortunate event, a transition to a new backend (the one powering heresanidea.net) is being considered.

it would be nice to be able to tuck away notes (all or individual notes) where they wont obsure desktop space as well as keeping it easy to view them

(its explained in the image)
this idea was adapted from: http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/3689#comment

in any control panel option, when the window is small the side pane still appears and blocks out some of the content

toolbars or toolboxes? in Internet Explorer

Submitted by blueduck12 on December 27, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

toolbars in IE are a usefull feature

But
- they can take up too much space
- they can look ugly
- having multiple toolbars has a crowded look
- having multiple toolbars can look confusing to some people
- (more...)

what if you could keep these tools in a box, a box like the one seen in webslices

with this design
- the look of the browser can be simplified
- toolbars can be minimized and access back to those tools are easy (if you don't (more...)

minimising from the taskbar

Submitted by blueduck12 on September 4, 2009 to Annoyance

(this submission looks at the taskbar when its always combines the windows)

in windows vista you could minimise a window from the taskbar by first selecting the window (what ever way to select) and then clicking its taskbar button to minimise
(more...)

allow similar behaviour by selecting the window thumbnail to select the window and keeping the thumbnail open to click again to minimise - or just a double clicking solution

with IE8 it should just minimise the window the tab is contained (more...)

Majong Titians dropping noise

Submitted by blueduck12 on August 23, 2009 to Bug

(RTM 64bit)

In Majong titians the dropping effect of the tiles creates a noise. In windows vista the noise sounds in line with the effect. In windows 7 the noise is not as fluid or as snappy.

show all live previews at once

Submitted by blueduck12 on July 17, 2009 to Usability

Note: this submission had surgery!

sometimes you don't recall windows by their application, rather by their content.

my solution shows all window previews at once, this is similar to gliding your cursor along the taskbar in Vista to get the previews. you can also quicly peek all your windows if your looking for finer detail or comparing information between windows that (more...)

Customize the command bar - a drag 'n' drop solution

Submitted by blueduck12 on May 21, 2009 to Usability

The command bar doesn't let me customize the commands that go onto the command bar

i'm not sure but i think you could do something like this in windows XP and earlier, where they were toolbars which you could move and re-arange (more...)

allow custom commands to be placed on the command bar
- use a drag and drop interface like in Firefox
- adjust how many rows you want (keep the number of rows limited)

Instant On Solution

Submitted by blueduck12 on May 20, 2009 to Usability

Have you ever wanted to read a note or document on your computer but your computer was off, and you had to wait for your computer to turn on JUST to read that note or document . Sure Windows 7 loads up pretty quick, but for just one simple task nothing (more...)

Introduce an Instant on Solution by either:

- allowing Windows Sideshow to function on a regular monitor (like this will ever happen)
- introducing a lightweight secondary OS to be loaded when the user commands it during startup (more...)
