Help in Internet Protocol is not integrated into Windows Help and Support

Submitted by nyp on September 28, 2009 to Usability

Help in Internet Protocol is not integrated into Windows Help and Support. Some of them even open up that infamous "sorry, no help for you because winhlp32.exe is deprecated, blame the developer for being so lazy instead".

Integrate the help into Windows Help and Support.

RemoteApp and Desktop Connections appears as Windows Explorer on the taskbar

Submitted by nyp on September 28, 2009 to Usability

"Setting up a new connection with RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" window appears as Windows Explorer on the taskbar. Doesn't make sense.

Put it into Control Panel.

Narrator window has a few problems...

Submitted by nyp on September 25, 2009 to Aesthetics

1. Links has the old hand cursor
2. Buttons won't slowly glow in
3. Menu bar?? The only useful menu is Preferences which can be integrated into the main window itself.
4. ALL windows don't have the main instructions.

Fix them. And oh, improve the voice and functionality as well. :P

Completing installation, installing updates and configuring components should be done at the startup screen

Submitted by nyp on September 13, 2009 to Aesthetics

1. After expanding files at setup, setup then restarts the computer to complete the installation. However, after restarting, all that is left is a rather boring screen.
2. Windows updates are installed at the login screen. It shouldn't.

Use the startup screen to do those stuff.

Demolish the automatic update section in Windows Media Player Options

Submitted by nyp on August 30, 2009 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

Windows Media Player's automatic update feature doesn't seem to work anyway.

If it actually does, it should be integrated into Windows Update.

Change the font of the website to Segoe UI

Submitted by nyp on August 24, 2009 to Website suggestions

Since the main audience of this website is most likely to use Windows 7, why not change the font of the site to Segoe UI? Looks much more cleaner in my opinion.

Change the font of the website to Segoe UI. (for those who have Firefox and Stylish installed, you can do it now[1])

"Include in library" menu, breadcrumb menu and the view slider in Explorer doesn't have the fade-in effects. The "Organize" and "Share with" menus are fine though.
The selection colo(u)rs are also wrong as well.

Fix it.

Set up SmartScreen Filter dialog in Internet Explorer is wrongly designed

Submitted by nyp on August 17, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons

Set up SmartScreen Filter dialog in Internet Explorer is not Aero style, uses the Tahoma font, doesn't use command links, has a XP-styled shield icon and a Vista-styled banner.

Style the dialog like the second one on the image.

If you try to get help for digital signatures for programs, the only help you're going to get is frustration.

Update it so it uses Windows Help and Support.

"Your folder can't be shared" error screen is too brief

Submitted by nyp on August 2, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

When a folder can't be shared, it doesn't tell you WHY it can't be shared.
What's worse is that once I go to another computer and check it, the folder /is/ actually shared.

Add more details to the error screen and don't display it when it's actually shared.

Make a simple way to view a full-size image

Submitted by nyp on August 1, 2009 to Website suggestions

Currently, if you want to view an image at full-size, you need to right-click on the image, choose View Image and then manually edit the address bar.
This gets very annoying to do after a while.

Anything will work. Lightbox, direct linking to the image, on-page resizing...

Security Catalog files do not have a high-quality icon

Submitted by nyp on July 25, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons

Security Catalog (*.cat) files do not have a high-quality icon when scaled up.

(for those who are having trouble to find one, you can go to C:\Windows\System32\catroot for lots of them)

Replace it.
