Toggling between the "Always show all icons and notifications on taskbar" will reverse the order of the icons

Submitted by nyp on February 7, 2010 to Annoyance

On Notification Area Icons, if you toggle the "Always show all icons and notifications on taskbar" option, it will reverse the order of the icons.
GIF animation: http://bit.ly/aeZdCk

Instead of adding icons to the front, add them to the back.

Windows XP Mode Setup uses Wizard 97

Submitted by nyp on January 30, 2010 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

The new Windows XP Mode setup still uses the old Wizard 97 and not the new Aero Wizard.
Also, on the browse location dialog, there are some old icons.

Revamp the setup dialog.

Explorer's Recent Pages menu items are too close to the icon

Submitted by nyp on January 9, 2010 to Aesthetics

Explorer's Recent Pages(??) menu items don't have enough left padding for the icons like other menus do.

Add some padding into there.

Sync Center has a progress bar that doesn't look right

Submitted by nyp on December 10, 2009 to Aesthetics

Normal indeterminate progress bars have a smooth fading-out green bar but Sync Center has a progress bar that doesn't.

Use the native control.

Alt-Tab and Win+P windows doesn't fade out

Submitted by nyp on November 21, 2009 to Aesthetics

When you use the Alt+Tab or Win+P windows, it doesn't fade out just like any other windows. And for some reason, pressing Alt-Tab and then the Windows key will actually make it fade out.

Make the windows fade out when done using them.

Resource and Performance Monitor has a strange-looking progress bar

Submitted by nyp on November 5, 2009 to Aesthetics

Even though it's a relatively new program in Vista, the Resource and Performance Monitor program has a weird-looking progress bar.

Use the native control and change from indeterminate to determinate.

Print to file is completely useless

Submitted by nyp on October 31, 2009 to Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

On most programs that use the print API to open the Print dialog (I'm looking at you, Adobe), there will be a checkbox labeled "Print to file".
On practice, it sounds like a good idea, you could set up the printer preferences, create (more...)

Update the entire procedure. Help the user to print that .prn file. Update the dialogs.
Or just demolish the entire thing anyway. I don't really find a use for it. :P

Playing Audio troubleshooter has a minor typo

Submitted by nyp on October 31, 2009 to Aesthetics

At the troubleshooting report for the Playing Audio troubleshooter, there is a very minor typo of "at least".

Fix it, it shouldn't be that hard, right?

Fix it, obviously.

Multiple Antispyware Programs dialog in Action Center is wrongly designed

Submitted by nyp on October 21, 2009 to Aesthetics

Seriously, someone at Microsoft who worked for the Action Center must be sleepy while creating the multiple antispyware programs dialog. At least the font is correct.

Change the colors and the Vista-styled explorer bar (not sure how to say it though).

Unlocking a BitLocker-protected drive dialog uses the Tahoma font

Submitted by nyp on October 21, 2009 to Aesthetics

Even when BitLocker Drive Encryption is a relatively new feature in Vista and 7, the unlock drive dialog still uses the Tahoma font.

Update it, obviously.

BitLocker Drive Encryption should have a progress bar at the superbar

Submitted by nyp on October 21, 2009 to Usability

While a drive is being encrypted, it would be nice if there's a progress bar at the superbar.

Add a progress bar at the superbar.
