Windows Image & Fax Viewer doesn't animate animated gifs

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 21, 2008 to Bug, Usability

If you double-click a .gif on a folder, it'll open IE, but if you cycle to it using the image viewer, it won't animate.

Animate GIFs? also, make it faster, not like XP which did but at 1/2 of the real speed.

Time for file operations is inaccurate and not absolute

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 20, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

I'm copying some files off a computer to my PC on my own network and I've seen the time left as "About 1 hour"... and that was an hour and half ago.

I'd LOVE if Windows would show the full time (1:32, for example) (more...)

Calculate (and show) the time correctly.

Four words: Fix. The. Damn. Permissions.

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 18, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

I think the title and the screenshot says it all.

I can't believe that in all the time I've been using Windows 7, I've faced permission problems.

Some words to Microsoft: I DON'T NEED PERMISSION TO DO (more...)

Fix. The. Damn. Permissions.

Constant refresh while copying files to a folder with a shared folder within

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 18, 2008 to Bug, Usability

Well this has happened to me once (right now). Steps to reproduce:

1. Make a folder called "!Shared" on your Documents (can be any name anyways)
2. Share it
3. Make a new folder inside your Documents called "2" (more...)

Stop the constant refresh in the folder where there is no file activity? it's just silly to do code-wise and annoying for the user. I had to wait until the copy was finished so I could rename my newly-created folder.

File delete operation is too slow

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 18, 2008 to Bug, Usability

Deleting 1,58Gb takes around 25 minutes according to Windows (it took around 15 though). Still, that's WAY slower than it was in XP.

If you want to reproduce:

1. Download Adobe Photoshop CS4's trial from their website
(more...)

Make it fast like XP. Somehow, big file delete operations are slow on W7 than in XP.

File delete operation is too slow

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 18, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

25 minutes to delete 1,58Gb? let's be serious... it took less than a minute in XP.

HD is (and has always been, in XP & Vista) a 7200RPM Seagate 40Gb IDE.

Make it faster like XP? :(

Missing icons in start menu :(

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 17, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Icons

If you make a shortcut in your desktop and then pin it to the start menu, then delete it, you'll get a missing icon :(. You can also right-click the item and go to its properties and you'll see the icon, but it doesn't update in the start (more...)

Background for icon renaming is hard to see sometimes

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug

Check the picture. When the text is above dark background, it can be seen. When it is above light background, it cannot be seen.

Problem is that Windows 7 uses a mask to make the text transparent, and the box white. When you move the icon (more...)

Invert the mask, or change background color when the range of colours detected behind the text is close to white, or something along those lines.

Volume slider/icon in WMP ?

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

I can't find a volume slider or option in the small WMP taskbar preview! it would be greatly useful, or at least a mousewheel option for controlling the volume :)

Add a volume button/slider! :D

WMP cannot get album art

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 16, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

I recently ripped music off a CD using WMP without any internet connection (it was down when I did the rip) so now that I have internet again I went to the Find Album Info feature and tagged all the MP3s and album as found on the internet (which is really (more...)

Try to recover album art too? Duh :(

Desktop shuffle isn't very random

Submitted by DARKGuy on December 16, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug

With around 103+ wallpapers chosen from a specific folder, I find myself clicking Next background image a lot of times, just to see the same repeated 10-15 images over again :(

Add more "shuffle" to the desktop image shuffle algorithm.
