[Site] Only Log In Once [Site]

Submitted by Arayta on February 14, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

This might be just me, but whenever I come on this site in Firefox 3, I have to log in twice. First I'll log in on the home page, and it'll say welcome. Then when I click on something to comment or whatever, it tells me I need to log in again. (more...)

Mount Vista partition by default

Submitted by Arayta on February 13, 2009 to Usability

For some people, like myself, the Vista partition was not mounted by default in Windows 7, thus making it inaccessible. Others did not have this problem. I recently found out that by going into Computer Management and assigning a drive letter to the drive, (more...)

The Vista partition should be mounted by default for all installations.

Taskbar buttons turn to thin slits

Submitted by Arayta on February 9, 2009 to Aesthetics, Bug

It seems that under certain conditions, taskbar buttons turn to thin glass slits. See the screen shot.

First it was just the one on the end, then as I clicked Firefox to post this very submission, the Firefox button (far left) reverted (more...)

Bring back the advanced tag editor in Windows Media Player

Submitted by Arayta on January 17, 2009 to Usability

Windows Media Player 11 had a useful feature for editing album and music tags by right clicking on them and selecting [advanced tag editor]. This functionality has been removed (or forgotten) in WMP12.

Please bring it back, it was quite useful.

I'm begging you, *please* bring back Windows Movie Maker, at *least*.

Submitted by Arayta on January 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Okay, I know you guys won't be shipping all of the regular applications with Windows 7 in favor of Windows Live applications, but by taking Movie Maker out you've gone too far. I mean, has anyone here actually tried to *use* Windows Live Movie (more...)

Guest Account not working, strange error.

Submitted by Arayta on January 4, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

Maybe this is just me, but I enabled my guest account for a cousin and it's not working for some reason or another (see the picture).

It says: "The Group Policy Client failed the logon. Access is denied."

I'm (more...)

I guess all I can say is fix it, since I don't really know what it is.

Allow us to click through the Aero Glass to the desktop.

Submitted by Arayta on January 4, 2009 to Usability

Wouldn't this be useful in this scenario:

1.) Open a full screen application.

2.) Press the Windows Key + Spacebar to use desktop peek.

3.) Try to click anything on your desktop. Yeah... you can't.

Allow us to click through the desktop peek glass to the desktop.

Have intgrated support for online drives, like SkyDrive.

Submitted by Arayta on December 24, 2008 to Usability

Yes, I know this isn't a UX quirk, but hear me out:

This feature is so simple, yet so brilliant. I can't believe I never thought of this. Why not have integrated support for online storage services (Like Windows Live SkyDrive) (more...)

"Burn to Disc" program has terribly low res icon.

Submitted by Arayta on December 23, 2008 to Aesthetics, Icons

I was erasing a CD-RW, and then I looked at the taskbar... and saw a horrible icon. See the picture. Just thought I should submit real quick.

Fiks et. (That means "fix it" in a new language I'm making, but not really though.)

Cannot browse Vista Partition

Submitted by Arayta on December 23, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

I keep forgetting to submit this, but here it is, finally.

I haven't been able to access my files on my Vista partition from Windows 7. This is quite frustrating, because now if I want to play media files or games from my Vista partition, (more...)

Make Vista files easily accessible from with Win7, with permissions still intact of course. When I browse my Win7 files from within Vista, UAC still works fine.

There is something seriously wrong with the taskbar. [Critical]

Submitted by Arayta on December 17, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Okay, so everyont here knows how to use the new taskbar, right? I think we can all agree on that, we've all seen the PDC videos I'm sure.

However, I was reading Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows, and one particular article (more...)

Option 1: In build 6801, jumplists appeared when you clicked an arrow that was next to the icon. This however made the gap between icons too large, making for less capacity on the taskbar. Find a way around this.

Option 2: Include a tour (more...)

<Website> Where are all the MS employees?

Submitted by Arayta on December 15, 2008 to Website suggestions

I get the feeling that MS doesn't even pay attention to this site anymore because I never see any of the green Windows Logos next to the MS employees. Where are they? Should we even keep this site up if they're not looking?

Taskbar looks odd when put on the left in build 6956

Submitted by Arayta on December 15, 2008 to Aesthetics, Bug, Usability

In build 6801, putting the taskbar on the left of the screen was actually more practical on widescreen displays because it took up less space (if you have build 6801, try it yourself and compare it to my picture).

Now in this later build (more...)

Make it the way it was in build 6801 please.

Make open applications automatically group at the front of the taskbar.

Submitted by Arayta on December 14, 2008 to Usability

It's weird having idle application icons between my open application buttons (see picture) because then I have to make a huge jump between open applications over the inactive ones.

They should automatically group at the beginning of the taskbar when opened then go back to where they were when closed (again, see picture).

Bring back the taskbar controller for Windows Media Player.

Submitted by Arayta on December 14, 2008 to Usability

It made things easier, and I'm sure more people would have used it if it was enabled by default. With the current controller, you have to hover hover the taskbar button to see the controls, and wait even longer to see the name of the song playing.

Make the WMP button stretch out (like when grouping is disabled) and give it glass media buttons. See picture.
