Windows Media Player Full-Screen Controls stay Visible when List Enabled

Submitted by BraedenP on November 22, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

If you have the playlist showing in Windows Media Player and you switch to full-screen mode, the controls don't disappear after a few seconds of not touching anything.

If the list is hidden, they do disappear.

Make the controls dissapear in full-screen mode regardless if the playlist is showing or not.

Theme Switching Sound Always Plays on Speakers

Submitted by BraedenP on November 22, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug

If you have headphones or external speakers plugged into an audio jack in a laptop, when switching themes the "tada" sound always plays out of the built-in speakers, even if the current output device is the headphones.

Make the sound play on the current device like everything else.

Paint Can Use Over 1GB of RAM

Submitted by BraedenP on November 20, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

If you make the canvas large enough, even with nothing on it, Paint will continuously use more and more RAM as you make it bigger.

It will eat up over 1GB of RAM!

Here's a 17MB video depicting exactly what happens.

Fix the memory leak - it didn't do this in Vista's paint.

If, for example, you are in more than one Windows Live Messenger conversation with the taskbar icons un-grouped (so you can see text beside the icons) and someone talks to you while the window is not active, (more...)

Create a new Process Instance from Within SuperBar Popup

Submitted by BraedenP on November 8, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

In the superbar, icons can serve both as shortcuts to applications and indicators of open apps.

Since those icons serve the shortcut functionality, they should be able to create another instance of an app even if an instance is currently (more...)

Add the "New" button as the screenshot above shows.

Orb Glows Upon Activating Taskbar

Submitted by BraedenP on November 6, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug

If you close or minimize a window and bring the taskbar into focus, the start orb randomly glows. If you have other windows open, and the focus is brought to them when you minimize a window, however, the orb does not glow.

So whenever the (more...)

Internal Speakers/Headphones Switching Problem

Submitted by BraedenP on November 6, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

When siwtching between internal speakers (like the ones in laptops) and headphones, the switching does not occur properly.

For example, if you are listening to music on Last.fm in Internet Explorer via the built-in speakers, and then plug (more...)

Make the output device automatically switch to the headphones when they are plugged in, and switch back to the speakers when unplugged, just like pervious versions of Windows.

Progress Bar in SuperBar WMP

Submitted by BraedenP on November 6, 2008 to Usability

The small Windows Media player that pops up upon hovering over the WMP icon lacks a progress bar. Yes, it's a useful tool, but it'd be a lot better with a progress bar.

Inconsistent Folder Naming

Submitted by BraedenP on November 5, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug

If you rename a folder via the Start Menu, the change is reflected in Windows Explorer. However, if you rename something (like the "Computer" folder) in explorer, the change doesn't happen in the start menu.

Like in the image (more...)

Make the change occur in both places, with no regard as to where they were made.

Superbar IE8 Tab Switching Bugs

Submitted by BraedenP on November 5, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

There are two problems with the pop-up tab thumbnails in the Win7 Superbar:

1. The tab images don't update properly all the time. In the image below, the "JCXP.net" page does not currently look like that.

2. (more...)

I think that:

1. The tab images should update, even when the tab is not active.
2. IE8 should be brought to then front AND switch to the selected tab when clicking on a thumbnail.

Hiding Icons Also Hides Gadgets

Submitted by BraedenP on November 5, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Icons, Usability

If, in the context menu on the desktop, you select "Hide Desktop Items", it hides both the gadgets AND the icons.

Many people would like to hide the icons until they need them, but still view the gadgets in the meantime, like (more...)

Make separate buttons; one to hide gadgets and one to hide icons.

Submitted by BraedenP on November 4, 2008 to Aesthetics, Bug, Icons

In the "Device Center", no matter which device you select, the icon that displays in the "Display Panel" (the panel with extra info at the bottom of explorer windows) always displays the printer/camera icon.
