Submitted by patternjake on May 31, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons, Legacy, Usability

This entire dialog is old and outdated. You would have thought MS would add a manifest at least

This is 2009, update the icon, update the dialog.

Provide the ability to pin websites/web applications to the start menu

Submitted by alirobe on February 3, 2009 to Icons, Usability

Web applications such as Google Reader, Hotmail, and Office for Web Applications are used just like desktop applications by end-users. Why make the distinction between web-apps (including XBAPs) and desktop apps?

Provide a menu option in Internet Explorer that allows users to pin sites to the taskbar as applications.

Have a feedback for all the problems found

Submitted by Antonio on February 2, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Icons, Legacy, Usability

The windows taskforce web page is great but the impact of suggestions we wrote would be harder if each submission will be sent to the windows team directly from seven. Otherwise there is the risk that all the problems will not find any acceptable solution.

A new tag - for exemple «already sent to technical support» - for each submission is required indicating that the problem has been forwarded to the windows team using the applet built inside seven.

Submitted by Zerlot on January 14, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons, Legacy, Usability

When user pinned a lot of icons in taskbar the up and down push button usually appear so user could scroll to the other icons. What i find annoying is that i must click that tiny up and down arrow button.

second thing i find annoying is (more...)

Could we just push a single button to scroll to the other icons

highlight the arrow/change the color of arrow or give user some kind of indicator to guide user where to scroll next

When saving a picture file on Desktop, the preview icon (in medium size) shows it incorrectly

Submitted by Ignacio AF on December 28, 2008 to Bug, Icons

The problem is that when I save a picture file on my desktop (usually it's in PNG, but I have saved pics in other formats as well) the preview icon show only 15% or 20% part of the file, while the rest is in black. That happens only if the size (more...)

Taskbar when docked on side does not shrink with the size of icons

Submitted by RahulVij on July 22, 2009 to Aesthetics, Bug, Icons, Usability

When the TaskBar is docked to the bottom or top of the screen & size of the icons is reduced the effect is as desired - taskbar shirks in width to comply with the icon size. If done the same with taskbar docked to the side (left or right) the size (more...)

Make the taskbar shrink to the size of icons when docked to the side of the screen. the behavior should remain the same, no matter where the it is docked.

WMF files still have the old Paint icon

Submitted by nyp on July 7, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons, Legacy

WMF (or RLE or EMF) files still have the yucky old Paint icon.

You already have the new PNG icon so it's just a simple resource change.

Fonts folder isn't compatible with Extra Large Icons.

Submitted by nyp on April 6, 2009 to Icons

The Fonts folder in the Windows folder isn't compatible with Extra Large Icons. Weird thing is that there IS one in main.cpl

Change it to the one inside main.cpl
It should be an easy resource swap.

[7022] Low-res icons in start menu (Run, Connect projector, Media Player)

Submitted by Indrek on February 25, 2009 to Icons

In build 7022, the following icons in the start menu don't seem to have 256x256 versions:
Run
Connect to a projector
Windows Media Player (funny thing is, I could've sworn it had a large icon in build 7000)

Add hi-res versions.

The "glass overlay" on the icons is very pixelated while in small icon view.

The overlay can be appropriately sized for the small icon view.

Stretched icon in Keyboard Layout Preview

Submitted by nyp on April 9, 2009 to Aesthetics, Icons

There is a horribly stretched icon in the keyboard layout preview window. I also suspect that this is where all the outdated icons in the Language Bar live at.

Took some digging to find - here's how to get there:
Regional and (more...)

A nicely rendered icon, please.
