Forgets the name that you have just typed when renaming a file

Submitted by KirbzStar on April 8, 2010 to Annoyance

If you rename a file or folder, and there is an error (because the file may be in use, or already exist etc), it will automatically cancel and forget exactly what you just typed. This will leave you retyping the filename from scratch rather then letting (more...)

Don't cancel the rename process automatically. Keep it in rename file mode, so that only pressing the escape key will cancel the rename.

Tell me what apps are using a volume I want to remove.

Submitted by epobirs on March 17, 2010 to Usability

Frequently, when I want to remove a drive volume, typically a USB device, I'll be told the device cannot be stopped at this time. This is usually because something is still using the drive. This can be as simple as an Explorer window displaying a (more...)

Create a more meaningful error message for the novices, and offer a means to find out which app is still using the volume. Try to make it give a name that will mean something to regular people and not just the name of the process. I don't mind tracking (more...)

Open With for Multiple Files

Submitted by pedro_cesar on March 22, 2010 to Annoyance, Usability

When you select multiple files the "Open With..." option is not available (actually is not at all) in the context menu.

This is understandable if the files cannot be opened with the same application but makes no sense if all the (more...)

Enable the "Open With..." option in the context menu for multiple files selection if the files have the same extension.

Add more Customization

Submitted by Zedo Mann on April 2, 2010 to Aesthetics

The Windows 7 UI isn't nearly customizable enough by simply changing the color of the glass.

Add more customization, such as button color (change it from the default blue), corner shape (sharp or more curved), Window background (change it from the shadow), etc.

Paint: Make the shape drawing tools as flexible as in Microsoft Office apps

Submitted by xml97 on April 11, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Say for example you draw a speech bubble, it is very difficult to position the pointed bit from the speech bubble to exactly where you want.

Make the shape drawing tools as flexible as in Microsoft Office apps as in you can move the shapes and adjust the shapes exactly however you choose to do so.
