File upload dialog in Internet Explorer 8
When you want to upload many files to a website, IE opens a "Choose File to Upload" dialog for each file (by clicking on a 'Browse' button next to an empty form field). This dialog always defaults to the same view and window size. (more...)
Simply allow the browser to remember the file upload dialog size and view settings from the last time it was used. Windows 2000 did this nicely.

Moving from Fullscreen to Windowed mode in Windows Media Center should not cause playback to stutter
Restore/Maximize Windows Media Center causes playback to stutter. This causes TV playback to fall behind the live signal. I was happy to accept this until I started using VLC media player and found that it has no stutter when moving between Fullscreen (more...)
Implement better Fullscreen/Restore behaviour as with other media players (eg. VLC has NO STUTTER AT ALL) when restoring or maximizing the Media Center window.

Sticky Notes 2.0
Here is just a short list of problems/shortcomings of Sticky Notes in Windows 7.
1. No synchronization with anything!
-I've lost all my notes multiple times forgetting to back them up before reinstalling
2. No organization, (more...)
1. Please add functionality to sync sticky notes automatically between my desktops and my Windows Live account.

Offer the option to delete all notes at once in Sticky Notes
If you have quite a lot of stick notes open at once, you have to delete them all manually. I reckon that there should be an option to delete all sticky notes at once in both the start menu jumplist and the taskbar jumplist. Even if the option can be added (more...)
Add the delete all notes at once option to both the start menu and taskbar jumplists for Sticky Notes.

Ditch the 'Category' view in Control Panel
The category view looked kinda 'simplified' when first introduced in Windows XP, but it made navigating to control panels apps more clunky to get to. Yes, I know you can simply switch back to classic view again, but I reckon that ditching 'Category' (more...)
Scrap the category view in Control Panel.

Better History in the Calculator
When you use the current Win7 calculator an enable the history, you are only able to see your formulas and you do not get to see the results of said formulas. This is problematic as sometimes you want to compare results from two different formulas and (more...)
Insert a history feature similar to the windows XP powertoy calculator (where you can not only see the formula, but also the result).

Support free codecs by default in Windows Media Player
Windows Media Player lacks default support for free codecs such as Vorbis and FLAC. This means that when a user is confronted with an .ogg file, they have to hunt down a proper codec. And if they're anything like me, they'll want icons and whatnot (more...)
Simply package WMP with support for Free codecs. As the name implies, it doesn't cost Microsoft anything to do it. And since WMP isn't actually sold, it's not commerical use.

Windows Search - begin search when <enter> or button is hit
Note: this problem only applies to people with LARGE amounts of data which is indexed.
When I type in a search term in Windows Search or Outlook, I seldom am able to get my entire word typed, especially if I am typing something specific (more...)
Simplest fix would be to add a setting somewhere that stops the "autosearch" feature and requires a user to hit <enter> or hit the "search" button.
NOTE: for those that like it the way it is... the default option (more...)
