Windows Media Player 12 Icon

Submitted by yannduran on April 19, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons

It seems to me that the icon for WMP 12 (& I think it was the same for 11 as well) doesn't seem to match the overall "look & feel" of WMP itself.

There's the hint of a play button (which is good) & a vague (more...)

Revamp WMP's program icon, by using comething like the actual "play" button image as the icon, that uses WMP's color scheme, replacing the current blue & orange icon.

If the existing icon was changed to have the (more...)

Restore Ruler/Status icons in wordpad

Submitted by JJohnson on March 17, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons

The Ruler and Status icons were removed from WordPad, and replaced with checkboxes. Older users see the larger icons better than the small checkboxes

Restore the Ruler and Status Bar icons; under ruler, possibly add a dropdown to change from Imperial to Metric for international users.

Redesign the Start Orb so it stands out.

Submitted by Jaips on February 28, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

With the redesigned taskbar and large appilcation icons, the current 'start orb' no longer stands out as special. Such an important UI element should have a strong visual mass.

Redesign the start-orb to be more prominent [suggestion attached]

Submitted by Helito on February 25, 2009 to Aesthetics

In the Windows 7 build 7022 the projector options (WinKey + P) was updated. Now the background is a color.

The build 7000 this window uses glass. See image with two builds.

I think that build 7000 style is better and it should (more...)

New "shut down menu"

Submitted by Helito on February 1, 2009 to Aesthetics

The menu of right arrow in shut down option seems the old Start Menu of Windows XP.

A new and modern pop-up in Windows 7 style (like system tray pop-up). See in the image bellow some suggestions.

<7025> Bring back these Paint 7000 icons

Submitted by antiufo on February 1, 2009 to Aesthetics

New version of Paint in 7025 uses new icons. Some of them are worst than 7000 ones:

Brushes: It's too light and has a lower contrast
Paste: Too eye-distracting
Shapes: Does not reflect the nature of the shapes: Paint (more...)

Blue progress bar for Win 7

Submitted by Schnubbie on January 21, 2009 to Aesthetics

I always think of Vista when I see the green progress bar in Win 7. Blue is the inofficial color of Win 7 so why not a blue and modern progress bar. The green progress bar started with xp (green start button/meadow). Vista has the typical Aurora greenish (more...)

Make the Win 7 progress bar blue.

Create a more user friendly way of creating a task

Submitted by fiji on January 3, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

In Task Scheduler there should be a more userfriendly way to create a task. It should have a Aero style wizard.

To create a task use a Aero style wizard

I would like it back, it makes it look more buttonish.

Bring the border back.

Allow users to make additional "blanks" in taskbar.

Submitted by hoopla_punta on December 14, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

If you are using 6956, you should realize that the taskbar has a "blank" after the first three default icons. This blank is to separate icons, at your own preference. I would like to have more "blanks" that I could insert though.

Allow users to insert blanks on the taskbar from the right click context menu.

More static (idle) animations everywhere!

Submitted by hoopla_punta on December 12, 2008 to Aesthetics

There will be option to turn off these.
I miss the Longhorn days when idle animations (plain animated backgrounds) ruled! Now in Vista and 7, its gone, for the worst.
Since quite a lot of people have Aero Capable PCs, then they should also (more...)

Where idle animation can be put:

Desktop Wallpaper,
Glass around the window (make it look like the light is moving around, hence different reflections)
Taskbar (at least the notification area or right edge)

Use the earlier build of the notifiaction area.

Submitted by hoopla_punta on November 27, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

To be truthful, I hate the new design of the notification area, where there is glass around it, and it looks horrible in aero basic.

Why can't the old notification area be brought back? It looks much better and it can be made glossy, (more...)

Use the older build of the notification area and add some gloss if it doesn't match.

Where did the "energy ribbon" go?

Submitted by hoopla_punta on November 27, 2008 to Aesthetics

If you have ever noticed in Vista's Explorer, whenever you open a new Explorer Window, there is this thing that animates in the bottom right of the details pane. That is what I call the energy ribbon, and it is GONE! Why??? It is a symbol of aero-ness!

Bring back the energy ribbon to the Details Pane or include it some (more) places:

Copy/Cut... Dialog,
Watermark background for Windows Explorer
Generic Icons???
Other places?

The boot progress bar is blue compared to the one in Aero, which is green.
