Submitted by redb on September 10, 2009 to Website suggestions

Once a suggestion is fixed it shouldn't be 'votable' anymore.
This way it get easier to spot solved problems and filter them out.

New "shut down menu"

Submitted by Helito on February 1, 2009 to Aesthetics

The menu of right arrow in shut down option seems the old Start Menu of Windows XP.

A new and modern pop-up in Windows 7 style (like system tray pop-up). See in the image bellow some suggestions.

Boot screen is stretched on almost every display

Submitted by tino on November 9, 2008 to Aesthetics

It is a minor issue but why is the new boot screen still in 4:3? Almost every display out there is 16:9 or 16:10.

Make the new boot screen 16:9 so that it will only be stretched on legacy displays.

Help + support & winver boxes adopt new blue aurroa.

Submitted by .Chris on November 25, 2008 to Aesthetics

This is a small visual change, but in windows 7's help and support and the windows 7 win ver box are lacking a good visual change. In help and support this will match more closly with the microsoft help and support website, whitch has dark blue elements. (more...)

Again, this is just a minor quark, nothing major, but it does make things look a lot nicer and bring more constantcy. (help and support, microsoft help website)

Windows 7 no longer had the blue aurora.

Right-clicking "Network" on Start menu does not have a "Show on Desktop" command

Submitted by nyp on March 27, 2009 to Annoyance

Just like the title said. Right-clicking "Network" on the Start menu doesn't show a "Show on Desktop" command. You need to go to "Desktop Icon Settings" in order to show it on desktop.

Display it.

Create a more user friendly way of creating a task

Submitted by fiji on January 3, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

In Task Scheduler there should be a more userfriendly way to create a task. It should have a Aero style wizard.

To create a task use a Aero style wizard

Backup icon in Tools tab for hard drive properties is in the wrong color

Submitted by nyp on February 24, 2009 to Icons

This is what happens when you don't use icon centralization.
Right-click a hard drive > Properties > Tools tab > Backup section
Or you can just look at the screenshot.

Change it to the green one.

Allow users to make additional "blanks" in taskbar.

Submitted by hoopla_punta on December 14, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

If you are using 6956, you should realize that the taskbar has a "blank" after the first three default icons. This blank is to separate icons, at your own preference. I would like to have more "blanks" that I could insert though.

Allow users to insert blanks on the taskbar from the right click context menu.

[7022] Projector options should back to 7000 style

Submitted by Helito on February 25, 2009 to Aesthetics

In the Windows 7 build 7022 the projector options (WinKey + P) was updated. Now the background is a color.

The build 7000 this window uses glass. See image with two builds.

I think that build 7000 style is better and it should (more...)

Use the earlier build of the notifiaction area.

Submitted by hoopla_punta on November 27, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

To be truthful, I hate the new design of the notification area, where there is glass around it, and it looks horrible in aero basic.

Why can't the old notification area be brought back? It looks much better and it can be made glossy, (more...)

Use the older build of the notification area and add some gloss if it doesn't match.

Restore Ruler/Status icons in wordpad

Submitted by JJohnson on March 17, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Icons

The Ruler and Status icons were removed from WordPad, and replaced with checkboxes. Older users see the larger icons better than the small checkboxes

Restore the Ruler and Status Bar icons; under ruler, possibly add a dropdown to change from Imperial to Metric for international users.

Gadgets Appearing and Disappearing at Random

Submitted by jceddy on December 11, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

When I have multiple instances of a gadget running with different settings configurations (specific examples: AccuWeather.com, Top Processes), when I restart Windows it is a crap shoot as to whether all instances of the gadget appear, or only one or two. (more...)

Properly keep track of all instances of a gadget and re-load them when windows is restarted.

It looks like this IS a problem with the gadget, not a Windows 7 bug. I've contacted the gadget developer, so hopefully it will get fixed (see my post in the comments section).

Give users the ability to permanently delete thier account

Submitted by thebinaryfuture on July 20, 2009 to Website suggestions

Users who have signed up to post on any of the taskforce websites cannot delete thier account.

Since a user’s submissions and comments become a part of the community’s conversation, they can’t be easily removed without causing some sort of disruption. Hence, they should stay. However, the user should be given the option to select which (more...)

More static (idle) animations everywhere!

Submitted by hoopla_punta on December 12, 2008 to Aesthetics

There will be option to turn off these.
I miss the Longhorn days when idle animations (plain animated backgrounds) ruled! Now in Vista and 7, its gone, for the worst.
Since quite a lot of people have Aero Capable PCs, then they should also (more...)
