Moving from Fullscreen to Windowed mode in Windows Media Center should not cause playback to stutter

Submitted by zskuza on April 6, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Restore/Maximize Windows Media Center causes playback to stutter. This causes TV playback to fall behind the live signal. I was happy to accept this until I started using VLC media player and found that it has no stutter when moving between Fullscreen (more...)

Implement better Fullscreen/Restore behaviour as with other media players (eg. VLC has NO STUTTER AT ALL) when restoring or maximizing the Media Center window.

Internet Explorer XML error is vintage

Submitted by formula_86 on April 5, 2010 to Aesthetics, Legacy

Generally vintage. Doesn't fit in with the other IE page errors. XML error information could confuse some users.

Not only update the styling, but also simplify the error description, and by default have the advanced information hidden.

Sticky Notes 2.0

Submitted by Zober on April 3, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability, Website suggestions

Here is just a short list of problems/shortcomings of Sticky Notes in Windows 7.

1. No synchronization with anything!
-I've lost all my notes multiple times forgetting to back them up before reinstalling
2. No organization, (more...)

1. Please add functionality to sync sticky notes automatically between my desktops and my Windows Live account.
2. Add a context sorting/filtering algorithm that sorts Sticky Notes into "Stacks" based on predefined categories. (If sticky (more...)

Magnifier quits when IntelliPoint/IntelliType is installed

Submitted by Ambious on April 3, 2010 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

While either Intellipoint or IntelliType is installed, "Magnifier" will quit unexpectedly if any mouse button is clicked.
Note mentioning is that it doesn't crash, as it displays the shutting-down animation and everything.
Also, (more...)

Completely uninstalling both IntelliType and IntlliPoint seems to solve it, but that's hardly a solution

Offer the option to delete all notes at once in Sticky Notes

Submitted by formula_86 on April 3, 2010 to Annoyance, Usability

If you have quite a lot of stick notes open at once, you have to delete them all manually. I reckon that there should be an option to delete all sticky notes at once in both the start menu jumplist and the taskbar jumplist. Even if the option can be added (more...)

Add the delete all notes at once option to both the start menu and taskbar jumplists for Sticky Notes.

Create a BBC News gadget for the Windows 7 gadgets list

Submitted by formula_86 on April 2, 2010 to Usability

Since there is a 'Feed Headlines' gadget included with Windows 7, why not include a BBC News gadget for those who like to recieve news from the BBC? People could select the gadget to display only local news, if they live in the UK and only want (more...)

Create and add a BBC News gadget to Windows 7 as suggested above.

Ditch the 'Category' view in Control Panel

Submitted by formula_86 on April 2, 2010 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Legacy, Usability

The category view looked kinda 'simplified' when first introduced in Windows XP, but it made navigating to control panels apps more clunky to get to. Yes, I know you can simply switch back to classic view again, but I reckon that ditching 'Category' (more...)

Scrap the category view in Control Panel.

Add more Customization

Submitted by Zedo Mann on April 2, 2010 to Aesthetics

The Windows 7 UI isn't nearly customizable enough by simply changing the color of the glass.

Add more customization, such as button color (change it from the default blue), corner shape (sharp or more curved), Window background (change it from the shadow), etc.

Allow themepacks to be downloaded within the 'Personalization' interface

Submitted by formula_86 on April 1, 2010 to Aesthetics, Icons, Usability

Instead of the 'more themes online' link, why not have a function a bit like Windows Update, so that you can check for any new free themepacks from within the Personalization interface and if there are any new ones available and select the ones (more...)

Make possible what is suggested above.

Better History in the Calculator

Submitted by schbrownie on April 1, 2010 to Annoyance, Usability

When you use the current Win7 calculator an enable the history, you are only able to see your formulas and you do not get to see the results of said formulas. This is problematic as sometimes you want to compare results from two different formulas and (more...)

Insert a history feature similar to the windows XP powertoy calculator (where you can not only see the formula, but also the result).

Allow games like Solitaire and Minesweeper to be played at the logon screen

Submitted by formula_86 on March 31, 2010 to Usability

Why not allow games such as Solitare and Minesweeper to be playable at the logon screen even before anybody has logged on? I'm sure this would have some benefits contrary to what some people here may think. I mean the resources required for running (more...)

Make possible what is suggested above.

Add a colour picker button to the Windows Explorer bar

Submitted by formula_86 on March 28, 2010 to Aesthetics, Usability

I know it has been mentioned many, many times before about the lack of customisation for the colour of the button bar in Windows Explorer, but I have searched and couldn't find anything asking for a color picker button like in Windows Live Mail. (more...)

Add a colour selection drop-down button as suggested above.
