Confirmation message for [Restart/Shut Down/Log Off].
Okay, I don't actually have Windows 7, so this may or may not have already been fixed. But in Vista, when you click Restart, Log Off, Shutdown, etc. there is no confirmation message. I think this is especially needed in Vista because in that little (more...)
Bring back the pop-up confirmation dialogue that used to come up in XP and previous versions of Windows.

Fully support multiple monitors, as a parallel to the new "StreamSwitch" feature
Currently, Windows Vista barely supports multiple monitors. By multiple monitors, I mean (at its simplest) using the usually-standard dual outputs on a video card, so that there is a primary monitor and a secondary monitor. In more complicated systems (more...)
Currently there is only one software solution that addresses this problem, very clumsily. It's called UltraMon. As a severe compromise, it flips between the primary and secondary status of all connected monitors based on which shortcut you launch. (more...)

Fix DOS looking screens in the Windows Installation, Boot Options, CHKDSK, etc.
It's 2008. Why am I looking at stuff that could have been put together on a IBM PCjr? The file loading screen is one of the first things you see when you install Windows, and it's terrible. OOBE? And, god forbid something goes wrong with Windows...you're (more...)
Look, I'm sure this is hard to fix, but I guarantee if any engineer tried to tell Steve Jobs OSX had to look like this, there would have had a short elevator ride in his future. It's fixable, and that's the level of commitment MS needs (more...)

Paint properties are vintage
Thought Microsoft finally abandoned old Paint? WRONG!
The Properties dialog where you can change the image's width and height (and color depth) is still the original dialog you know from Windows 95.
Update that dialog to match Aero aesthetics and implement new features and abilities like choosing a transparent color (Windows 98 featured that although it never worked)

Nasty, NASTY legacy recovery XP-esque icon. Stands out like a sore thumb.
Change the Icon.

UI Inconsistency in Wordpad
Ruler in wordpad is ugly and old, and doesn't fit in with the rest of the ribbon. Also, the gray and the white don't change along with the controls so it's confusing for the user.
Make the ruler fit in with the rest of the UI.

Full customization during Windows installation
All versions of Microsoft Windows have only limited customizable installation. And what I'm emphasizing here is, full customization during the installation. I'm not talking about unattended installation here, which will require lots of editing (more...)
Full customization of a Windows installation during the setup process. The beginning phase of the Windows installation should prompt users whether to install in default setting (where it will install all the default features, like how it does in the normal (more...)

Correct all legacy and/or inconcistant windows to use aero styling rules
A lot of windows still use legacy colors. There's not much to explain, here are two examples:
- the background color is gray in "Virtual Memory" and in "Performance Options" it's almost white)
- the create new (more...)
Use consistant colors throughout whole Windows

Administrative Tools window opens in a new window
Just like the title says it. When you open up Control Panel, type "Administrative" in search box. When you click Administrative Tools, the folder opens up a legacy "Administrative Tools" window, instead of the new Control Panel look (more...)
Use the same Control Panel look and feel for Administrative Tools or at least open them in the same window.
