Use the Aero technologie more in the windows

Submitted by lipinho170 on December 13, 2008 to Aesthetics, Usability

Man, we have the Aero technologie, it's AMAZING...but, why they just use it in the Explorer and in the gadgets window? Why dont use the glass (as in the explorer window) in other apps, like in paint and other programs? Make some other programs translucent (more...)

Use the Aero in other windows, like paint and like they do in windows vista, at the wmp11.

Windows taskbar width (horizontal) resize

Submitted by WWMCCROSKEY on December 9, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

I have to use a laptop computer in my work. To use dual screens with the docking station, we use the Matrox DualHead2Go boxes which makes both monitors appear as one very wide desktop. As such, the task bar runs the width of both monitors. On normal (more...)

Windows 7 lost the pinned shorcuts

Submitted by lipinho170 on December 8, 2008 to Icons, Usability

If you save a edited photo in paint, Windows 7 will shows it in the start menu. If you move the image, the system won't update the shortcut and will say that cant find the image.
And, in the shortcut missing alert, it doesnt shows any icon.

Sync the file with the shortcut, or add "dependencies" in the file, thenm when you move the file all the shortcuts pointed to it will automatic point to the new file folder.

The %username% in start menu leads to Libraries

Submitted by Paralityk on November 5, 2008 to Aesthetics

Your user name in start menu is a link to Libraries, but it feels that it should link to your personal folder (which is called with your user name)

Rename link in startmenu (from "Your username" to "Libraries")

Help me find Network Connections

Submitted by clifgriffin on November 3, 2008 to Annoyance, Usability

Each version of Windows makes finding options such as "Network Connections" harder to find. Vista takes you on a magical journey through the "Network and Sharing Center" that is full of dangerous obstacles that threaten to distract (more...)

Take all of those "super complicated yet very common" configuration screens and put them in an extremely easy/obvious place that has less of that "Choose Your Own Adventure" feel.

Network Connections Properties dialog

Submitted by computerkid on January 2, 2010 to Aesthetics, Legacy

The Network Connections Properties dialog (Local area connection properties) needs to be updated badly. It's a legacy dialog that has components I used to see in Windows 98 when I had my old PC.

Update the dialog, so it follows the UX guidelines. Microsoft, if you created the guidelines, use them!

Vintage wizard97 dialog box when importing CSV files into Windows Contacts

Submitted by formula_86 on December 26, 2009 to Legacy

When I got to my Contacts folder, and click Import Contacts, then Import CSV File, the resulting wizard uses the Wizard 97 look, rather than the modern Aero Wizard style.

Update the dialog box to use the Aero wizard style instead, we aren't living in the 20th century any longer.

Download window in Internet Explorer should look the same or similar to Windows Explorer

Submitted by Mephiles on October 25, 2009 to Aesthetics, Legacy, Usability

The download window in IE is old and does not comply with the Windows UX Guidelines. It gives too much information, most of which is not needed for the every day user.

When we move or delete files in Windows Explorer, a dialogue box appears. That dialogue box (or a similar one) should be used in IE.

Albums are NOT sortable by year any more. [Windows Media Player 12]

Submitted by storm8ring3r on October 11, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

In Media Player 11, by default, albums were sorted by year, which is very sensible. Now in Media Player 12, they are by default sorted by name (alphabetically). There is no way to sort by year any more.

Make albums sortable by year again in the artist view.
