Can't include multiple folders in library

Submitted by Tihiy on January 1, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

Can't use 'Include in library' when several folders are selected in Explorer, since command disappears from both command toolbar and context menu.

Waste time adding folders one by one.

Language Bar has multiple issues

Submitted by Cuppa on November 9, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Legacy, Usability

1. The menu style is non-standard.
2. The IME Pad for Japanese acts very strangely - buttons don't have have mouseover animations (even the Close button doesn't glow).
3. The glow over language bar items in the taskbar is non-standard.

Network icon animation?

Submitted by xombie on January 3, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Remember in XP, the LAN/Wireless icon in the system tray used to glow, to denote activity?

I don't mind that they rolled all the network adapters into one icon.

The problem is, it gives no indication of activity. So (more...)

Make the little monitor glow when the network is active.

Documents library cannot remember view settings

Submitted by rm20010 on November 10, 2008 to Annoyance, Bug, Usability

If Vista had a problem remembering folder views, then this is worse.

Any folder view settings you apply while browsing your Documents library aren't entirely preserved once you navigate out of that folder.

Here's (more...)

Temporarily disable the Aero Snap

Submitted by JK on March 9, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

The Aero Snap is really cool, but it can be truly annoying. You cannot drag windows out of the screen, you cannot resize nor move big windows around at all, as they get "sticked" super easily. It effectively decreases the size of your screen.

Microsoft already has intuitive and known solution used in majority products couple of years - hold the control key. Whenever you hold ctrl key while dragging around toolbars or tool windows, the docking feature is temporarily disabled. I suggest this (more...)

Allow "flipping" Task Bar layout, especially for right/left positioning

Submitted by pmbAustin on February 15, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

When you move the task bar to the right or left side of the display, it would be nice if you could have the option of having the 'start orb' in the bottom corner of the display (so that if you position the task bar in the left side, the start-orb's (more...)

Enhance Aero experience for MDI childs

Submitted by Jereck on February 3, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance

I understand that MDI child windows should look different than "regular" windows, but why scare users with the ugly Basic theme ?

Use the normal aero theme but without transparency for MDI child windows

Add restore desktop icons position functionality

Submitted by Dunross on January 19, 2009 to Annoyance, Usability

Icons position is lost after (often unwanted) screen resolution change. It is very annoying to drag them afterwards to their original positions "by hand".

Add ability to save and restore icons position "explicitly".

(Popular solution is to right-click on the desktop after which "Save Icons Position" and "Restore Icons Position" options appear).

Thumbnail previews not available

Submitted by billerr on December 18, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Usability

A issue that occured in Vista. Some applications will not show a thumbnail of their window in thumbnail previews (and in Aero Peek now in 7). Instead they just show a grey space and the program's icon instead of the window's contents. I suspect (more...)

Eliminate the problem, as it renders one of they key new features (Thumbnails and Aero Peek) sub-par.

Orb Glows Upon Activating Taskbar

Submitted by BraedenP on November 6, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug

If you close or minimize a window and bring the taskbar into focus, the start orb randomly glows. If you have other windows open, and the focus is brought to them when you minimize a window, however, the orb does not glow.

So whenever the (more...)

Typo in internet time dialog

Submitted by OmniouS on January 5, 2009 to Annoyance, Bug

Stop the Windows Time service and click 'Update Now' in the internet time dialog

There is a lonely lowercase 's' at the end - see pic

Remove the extra character. Perhaps even disable the whole dialog if the service is stopped or offer the option to start it

The message would make more sense imo if it was 'An error occured (while) getting ...'
