Black screen during hibernation? Why?

Submitted by adaz on April 9, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Is it by design? You don't know if the hibernation started at all or if it's finished or not: you have to look at the hdd led (if any!) because you don't venture to plug out the power cord.

Bring back the XP hibernation status bar with new design.

Put Aero into Media Player

Submitted by leaflord on January 5, 2009 to Aesthetics, Usability

The new WMP has a very clean and nice interface; however the interface doesn't seem as native as explorer(s) due to lack of enough aero IMO..

It'd be nice if the aero can seep into the back-forward buttons much akin to IE8 or Explorer. The tabs should be lowered and kept in same line as the command bar with a border separating them.

EDIT:
Changed suggestion, removed (more...)

Windows Media Download in WMP has old IE animation

Submitted by nitrous9200 on February 21, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Legacy

When listening to an internet media file and choosing save as in WMP, the download dialog looks like it's from an old version of Internet Explorer.

UPDATE: build 7100, somebody obviously looked at this dialog box or did something to (more...)

Update it. In fact, Microsoft should have had a Windows 7 development team dedicated to removing old legacy crap and updating dialog boxes, buttons, icons, animations and all of that jazz to modern standards. Why there has to be so much legacy in a product (more...)

Administrative Tools window opens in a new window

Submitted by NIXin on November 2, 2008 to Aesthetics, Legacy

Just like the title says it. When you open up Control Panel, type "Administrative" in search box. When you click Administrative Tools, the folder opens up a legacy "Administrative Tools" window, instead of the new Control Panel look (more...)

Use the same Control Panel look and feel for Administrative Tools or at least open them in the same window.

Totally revamp the Basic Theme

The basic theme is too basic. It should be more in line with the Windows 7 Theme.

Classic looks like crap

Submitted by alphanerd on October 29, 2008 to Aesthetics, Bug

Classic mode looks like a sloppy job. Why?:
1. The Start menu does not have borders
2. The find icon in explorer is outdated and squished 1px
3. Calculator's glass buttons turn into regular button with a background which look (more...)

Make it more like classic on vista, which looks better, or even XP's, which was the best.

Menu Item Height isn't uniform

Submitted by Cuppa on November 8, 2008 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Bug, Icons

Sometimes context menu items will be shorter than normal. I've noticed this with Office Groove shell menu items and in Azureus/Vuze. I think it only occurs when there is an icon included, but I could be wrong.

Make all menu items have the same height.

"Burn to Disc" program has terribly low res icon.

Submitted by Arayta on December 23, 2008 to Aesthetics, Icons

I was erasing a CD-RW, and then I looked at the taskbar... and saw a horrible icon. See the picture. Just thought I should submit real quick.

Fiks et. (That means "fix it" in a new language I'm making, but not really though.)

Centralize all *.log files generated by OS to one folder

Submitted by Digi on February 2, 2009 to Aesthetics, Annoyance, Usability

Windows Media Center - more than just blue

Submitted by blueduck12 on April 22, 2009 to Aesthetics

It would be nice if there was more personalization options available in Windows Media Center.

One area that could be personalized is the color scheme
